These works are initiated with the representational, in the historical frame of landscape. The convention of their space, however, is imposed upon, remade, even unmade. Conflict is introduced through abstraction: in the mode of Ideal form and hyper-rationality, intuition and organic disorder.
The goal is additive, or constructive, abstraction; the object is the reversal of the reductive tendency of abstraction. The result is an image in an augmented state-of-being, heightening its sense of meaning while acknowledging its material composition.
